The Outsider III marks the next chapter in our ongoing collaboration with our friend and celebrated author, David Coggins — a man whose life is split between far-flung rivers and well-worn barstools, and who demands a boot that can keep up with both.
Designed as a modern companion for a life lived outdoors and in good company, the Outsider III is a custom apron-toe Chukka built for versatility. Cut from rich Bison Janus calf suede sourced from the storied C.F. Stead tannery, it’s rugged enough for walking through pine forests yet refined enough to wear fireside with a whiskey in hand.
Beneath its understated silhouette lies Viberg’s Channeled Insole Goodyear Welt construction — our closest approach to traditional hand-welting. This time-honored method means each pair can be resoled and recrafted for decades of wear. And because your foot rests directly atop the insole and welt that bind the boot together, it will gradually conform to the shape of your foot, becoming more comfortable with each wear.
